okay I’m really glad that someone put this more eloquently than I could have ever

I’m rather apathetic towards the pairing but I really enjoy both characters enough to have no qualms with it in the comic but this is why I find a lot of fan stuff with them irritating; although to be fair I see this characterization of her outside of Karkat/Terezi fanworks quite often as well…

I very badly want an AU where Jade and Jane are girl detectives engaged in a friendly rivalry which means every case they stumble upon becomes a competition! To see who is the smartest/bravest/pluckiest. But since they are both more devoted to their trade than to any competitive impulses they always end up working on the case together, anyway, and spend the majority of the time delighting in the other’s skill. And Jade giggles forever at Jane’s pranks and looooooves her cake, and Jane thinks Jade’s markmanship and RIGHTEOUS FURY is splendidly swoonworthy and they have a jolly good time all day every day. 

“Gumshoe Girls and the Mystery with the Disappearing Pumpkins.”  I think this is a thing that should exist right now!

PS. they are also so dashing and have the fluttery affections of every girl in town. DS.
